Some sad news to share

It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the unexpected passing of one of our dedicated volunteers, Kathy Hall, this past weekend. This was totally unexpected and a shock to everyone at LAPS. Kathy volunteered for us for a number of years on a twice weekly basis. She also helped at various fundraisers, such as book sales, yard sales and our stand at the Milton Harvest Festival. She also created a fundraiser of her own. If any of you ever purchased one of our cat’s eye cat bracelets, you have seen Kathy’s work. Kathy had a love of cats and jewelry. She combined both loves to help all of us felines at the shelter and raised monies for our everyday care. 100% of the purchase price of these bracelet’s was given to the shelter.

Kathy will be greatly missed by our board, volunteers and, of course, the cats. We ask that you keep Kathy’s family in your prayers. Along with Kathy, we ask if you would keep 2 other very dedicated volunteers in your prayers as well.

We have 2 other members of our LAPS families battling illness as well. Cathy and Bonnie are/were weekly/bi weekly volunteers for a number of years. On top of their weekly duties, they also helped with vet runs and Cathy also fostered some of our more needy cats over the years. All these ladies are greatly missed at the shelter and have left a huge hole in its operation. It’s extremely hard to find such dedication as these ladies have put forth.

So we are now left with a huge hole in our hearts over the loss of Kathy Hall, and worry over the absence of Cathy and Bonnie that so desperately needs filled. If you have ever thought of helping an organization out and are an animal lover/cat lover perhaps you would consider giving LAPS a try. As you can see, we are in great need. If interested please call our shelter at 570.327.8707, stop by the fair and pick up an application, or email us at lapsshelter@windstream.net.

If you would like to make a memorial donation in Kathy Hall’s memory towards the care of our cats, you can send that to LAPS, 195 Phillips Park Drive, South Williamsport, PA 17702 or you can visit our website at www.lapsshelter.org and donate through PayPal. Be sure to indicate that your donation is in memory of Kathy Hall.
